Author Guidelines

Articles are structured reports that represent community service activities, which at least consist of Article Title, Author’s name (no academic title), (c) Affiliated author’s address, (d) the author’s email, Abstract & Keywords, Introduction, Method, Results and Discussion, Conclusion, Acknowledgement (If Any), and References. Detailed instructions for preparing articles can be found in Article Template.

 

The Manuscript General Guidelines

The manuscript text general guidelines for IJOCSEE are as follows:

  1. The manuscript is the authentic research result that has not been published yet in other publication media or publishing houses. Please read Publication Ethics.
  2. The manuscript does not contain any plagiarism element. The editorial board will directly reject the text that indicates plagiarism. Please read Plagiarism Policy.
  3. Ensure that all the criteria in this check-list are met (if one of the criteria is not met, your article will automatically be returned or rejected)

 

  1. The submission and the publication processes are free, without any additional fees.
  2. The manuscript that has been written under the guidelines of IJOCSEE (in MS Word format, use this article template) must be submitted through Online Submission System using Open Journal System (OJS) on the IJOCSEE E-journal portal (https://ejournal.upi.edu/index.php/IJOCSEE/index) choose only one procedure. Then, register as one of the Author in the “Register” bottom.
  3. The manuscript article writing guidelines and template can be downloaded. The template and the guidelines of the article writing are available in Microsoft Word (.doc) format. Please download the Template of IJOCSEE.
  4. The manuscript which is inappropriate with the IJOCSEE writing guidelines will be returned to the author before the reviewing process.
  5. The manuscript can be written both in Bahasa Indonesia or English with the standard language. The manuscript should consist of five (5) to twenty (20) pages including pictures and tables. The manuscript text ought to be written as this article template in the camera-ready mode. The article is written on A4-sized papers (210 x 297 mm), with custom margins as follows: left 2,54 mm, right 2,54 mm, bottom 2,54 mm and top 1,27 mm.
  6. The main text of the articles must be in Book Antiqua, 11pt font size, 1 line-spacing, one column with the space between columns 0 mm.
  7. The words from uncommon or foreign languages are stated in Italic format. For the article in Bahasa Indonesia, foreign terms or words should be avoided.

 

Use of word processing software

It is important that the file be saved in the native format of the word processor used. The text should be in single-column format. Keep the layout of the text as simple as possible. Most formatting codes will be removed and replaced on processing the article. In particular, do not use the word processor’s options to justify text or to hyphenate words. However, do use bold face, italics, subscripts, superscripts, etc. When preparing tables, if you are using a table grid, use only one grid for each individual table and not a grid for each row. If no grid is used, use tabs, not spaces, to align columns. To avoid unnecessary errors, you are strongly advised to use the 'spell-check' and 'grammar-check' functions of your word processor.

 

Essential title page information

  • Title: Concise and informative. Titles are often used in information-retrieval systems. Avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.
  • Author names and affiliations: Please clearly indicate the given name(s) and family name(s) of each author and check that all names are accurately spelled. Present the authors' affiliation addresses (where the actual work was done) below the names. Indicate all affiliations with a lower-case superscript letter immediately after the author's name and in front of the appropriate address. Provide the full postal address of each affiliation, including the country name and, if available, the e-mail address of each author.
  • Corresponding author. Clearly indicate who will handle correspondence at all stages of refereeing and publication, also post-publication. Ensure that the e-mail address is given and that contact details are kept up to date by the corresponding author.
  • Present/permanent address. If an author has moved since the work described in the article was done, or was visiting at the time, a 'Present address' (or 'Permanent address') may be indicated as a footnote to that author's name. The address at which the author actually did the work must be retained as the main, affiliation address. Superscript Arabic numerals are used for such footnotes.

 

Keywords

Immediately after the abstract, provide 3 to 5 keywords, using American spelling and avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of'). Be sparing with abbreviations: only abbreviations firmly established in the field may be eligible. These keywords will be used for indexing purposes.

 

Tables

Please submit tables as editable text and not as images. Tables can be placed either next to the relevant text in the article, or on separate page(s) at the end. Number tables consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text and place any table notes below the table body. Be sparing in the use of tables and ensure that the data presented in them do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article. The table should not contain vertical lines, while horizontal lines are allowed only for the important point.

 

Pictures and Charts

The pictures are placed in the text group after the referenced pictures. Each picture must be given a caption (Figure Caption) below the picture and be numbered in Arabic numbering format. The pictures attachment should be guaranteed that they can be printed well (font size, resolution and line space are clearly seen). The picture and the chart should be placed in the center between text groups. If it has a bigger size, it can be placed in the center of page.

 

References

Citation in text

Please ensure that every reference cited in the text is also present in the reference list (and vice versa). Any references cited in the abstract must be given in full. Unpublished results and personal communications are not recommended in the reference list but may be mentioned in the text. If these references are included in the reference list, they should follow the standard reference style of the journal and should include a substitution of the publication date with either 'Unpublished results' or 'Personal communication'. Citation of a reference as 'in press' implies that the item has been accepted for publication.

 

Web references

As a minimum, the full URL should be given and the date when the reference was last accessed. Any further information, if known (DOI, author names, dates, reference to a source publication, etc.), should also be given. Web references can be listed separately (e.g., after the reference list) under a different heading if desired, or can be included in the reference list.

 

Reference management software

It is highly recommended to use the Reference Manager tool to avoid inappropriate reference styles, such as Mendeley and Zotero. You can find these products in the right side-bar of the IJOCSEE’s home page. Using the word processor plug-ins from these products, authors only need to select the appropriate journal template when preparing their article, after which citations and bibliographies will be automatically formatted in the journal's style. Reference style

Text: Citations in the text should follow the referencing style used by the American Psychological Association (APA).

List: references should be arranged first alphabetically and then further sorted chronologically if necessary. More than one reference from the same author(s) in the same year must be identified by the letters 'a', 'b', 'c', etc., placed after the year of publication.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is formated accordingly to the instructions presented in the: WORD
  3. The text is single-spaced; uses an 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  5. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

  6. The length of the manuscript is 5 pages (minimum) to 20 pages (maximum)

  7. Where available, DOI for the references have been provided.
  8. All co-authors have agreed for the submission of this paper
  9. IMPORTANT! All co-authors' data (full names, e-mails, and affiliations) should be provided to the electronic submission system in the order they will be listed on the publication. It should be done in the second step of the submission "Step 3. Entering the Submission's Metadata". For more than one, use the "Add Author" button. Take care of the order of the authors. First of all, enter the first author. This is not only an annoying formality. If you don't give all authors they won't be listed in various indexing services and won't appear in the TOC of the printed version!
