Abstract


Abstract: Basic reading and writing skills is a basic skills that lower class in Elementary School must have. Based on observtions in grade one Elementary School in Bandung, we can see how low the basic writing skills they have. Its happen because the studying is only using the theme book. Student just do the test in the theme book without teacher’s reinforcement about the basic writing skills. This research aims to describe the application of drill method by using striped books to improve the print letters basic writing skills in one grade Elementary School. The research method used is Research Method of Class by Kemmis & Taggart that including planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Research subjects from I grade Elementary School are 24 people consist of 11 boys and 13 girls. RMC a cycles procedure that takes two cycles. Data collection tecniques are observation, test, and documentation, also the instruments are drill method observation sheet, and also basic writing skills assessment rubric. The result of research showed an enchanment in bassic writing skills with implementation of drill method with using striped book.
