PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN BERBICARA SISWA KELAS III SD MELALUI PENERAPAN METODE BERMAIN PERAN DI BANDUNG

Abstract


This research driven by observations and interviews with the guardians of grade III D in Bandung state schools, that is was of speaking skills in students. Initial data gained from observations only 10% of students were able to speak, it seen when the learning activities of students more silent, when the teacher asks, students did not respond, students answered only when the teacher appointed the student. This made researchers need to improve their speaking skills by role-playing method. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) which conducted in II cycles. Data collection techniques carried out through tests, interviews, observations, field notes, and documentation in each cycle. The results of this research first, research planning designed using role-playing method in accordance with steps such as: Warming up, selecting participants, preparing observers, setting stage, playing-roles, discussing and evaluating, replaying roles, second discussing and evaluating, share experiences and conclusions. Second, learning activities implementation with role-playing method, namely: students read and understand scenario, role play and observe, conclude the whole observer and contents of text being told. Third, reflecting difficulties found in each cycle and overcoming difficulties in next cycle. Fourth, after the implementation of role-playing method student’s involvement positive changes, namely students' speaking skills increase. This increase from the average value of students in the first cycle is 69.4 with 56% completeness and in second cycle the average value shows 79.4 with 92% completeness. This reproduces the achievement of all indicators of speaking skills.
