Abstract

Listening skill is one of the four aspects of language skills that must be mastered by students in order to speak properly and correctly. Listening skill is the basic skills of other language skills. Therefore, this listening skill must receive special attention in its implementation. The facts in the field showed that very little attention is paid to this listening skill compared to the other three skills. Along with these problems, based on the results of observations, researchers found problems related to listening in a primary educational institution in the city of Cianjur. Listening skills of students at the school are in the low category. Therefore, the researchers applied the cooperative script model to improve the listening skills of fifth grade elementary school students. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) method was carried out in two cycles, consisting of two meetings in each cycle, which involved four stages, namely the planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Data collection is done through the results of observations, evaluations, and expert opinions on learning implementation plans. Based on expert opinion and observation, the results of implementing cooperative script are in the high category and are carried out according to eight syntaxes cooperative scripts. Based on the data in the field, cooperative script proven to improve listening skills and is in the good/high category, namely the results are above the minimum completeness criteria (KKM). Further research recommendations involve the use of technology in improving elementary school listening skills.
