Abstract

Drawing is a popular activity among children, allowing them to express emotions while fostering physical, emotional, and cognitive development. This study aims to explore how free drawing activities can enhance creativity in elementary school students. Based on a literature review, it is concluded that drawing activities can improve children’s creativity and create a fun and engaging learning environment. This qualitative research employs a library study method to gather data from journals, books, and articles. The qualitative approach aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of free drawing in fostering creativity. The analysis involves reviewing expert opinions and theories to support the argument that free drawing activities can effectively develop creativity in elementary school children. The findings reveal that free drawing encourages exploration, expression, and imaginative thinking. It allows children to use various colors and lines freely, fostering their ability to create unique and original works. The process of free drawing emphasizes creativity as a journey rather than an outcome, ensuring children feel enjoyment without external pressure. Teachers and parents play a crucial role in providing stimuli, support, and motivation for children to engage in these activities. This study highlights the importance of free drawing as a tool to nurture creativity in elementary education, emphasizing that creativity should be cultivated from an early age to prepare children for future challenges.
