PENERAPAN METODE PEMBELAJARAN MIND MAPPING UNTUK MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN PEMAHAMAN KONSEP IPS KELAS IV SEKOLAH DASAR
Abstract
This research was based on background by the low understanding skills of social studies concept of fourth grade in one of the elementary schools in Bandung. This is because the teachers didn't use new and various learning methods that make students get bored quickly and difficult to understand about social studies. Based on these problems, researchers solved it by applying mind mapping learning methods. The purposes of this study were to describe the application of mind mapping learning methods and to improve understanding skills of social studies concept of fourth grade in one of the elementary school in Bandung. The research method used was classroom action research (PTK) model Kemmis and Mc. Taggart that carried out in two cycles with several stages in one cycle, which includes planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects of this study were 27 people of fourth-grade students in one of the elementary schools in Bandung. The technique of collecting data uses observation, field notes, tests, and documentation. The used of data processing is qualitative with the stages of data reduction, data exposure, and data inference. While quantitative data in the form of test results scores, class average scores, understanding of students' social studies concepts per indicator, student learning completeness. The results showed that the average score of students and understanding of students' social studies concepts per indicator increased from first cycle to second cycle. Based on these results it can be concluded that the application of mind mapping learning methods can improve understanding skills of social studies concepts of fourth grade in elementary school.
