Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.
Author Guidelines
General information for paper submission:
- Prior to submission, register and login as an author to the system.
- Manuscript must be submitted through the system of the journal. Manuscript submissions through email will not be considered.
- The manuscript should contain between 5,000 to 7,000 words with single space (excluding Abstract and Reference section) and in one column style.
- The submitted manuscript is in English with doc., docx., or rtf. formats, single space, 11 font size, Abadi, A4 paper with 2.54 cm margins.
- No header or footer is required. If needed, the author may use an endnote instead of footnote.
- The main headings include ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, METHOD, FINDINGS & DISCUSSION (RESULTS), CONCLUSION, and REFERENCES. Authors are allowed to use subheadings under the main headings. If necessary, ACKNOWLEDGEMENT and APPENDIX may be included.
- The title should be no more than 15 words, in sentence case, centered, 14 font size.
- The abstract must be between 150-250 words, consisting of the background of the study, the aim of the study, research method, and main findings/results, and conclusion. Following the abstract, write three to five keywords in alphabetical orders, separated by a comma.
- The introduction should consist of the background of the study, research contexts, literature review (relevant theories and results from previous studies), gap from existing literature (specific contribution), the scope of the study, significance of the study, and research aim(s).
- Introduction should be concise and presented in the forms of paragraphs with the proportion of 15-20% of the whole article length.
- The method section consists of description concerning the research design, research site and participants or data sources, data collection, and data analysis with the proportion of 10-15% of the total article length.
- The method section can be in a unified form or using subheadings.
- The findings and discussion section consist of description of the results of the data analysis to answer the research question(s) and their meanings seen from current theories and references of the area addressed. The proportion of this section is 40-60% of the total article length.
- The conclusion should summarize the findings and their significance. It should be written in narration, not in bullet points. It could also include implications, further research and recommendation, if applicable. It should be around 10 % of the total length of the article.
- Quotations, citations, tables, figures, and references must comply with the APA 7th edition citation style.
- Every source cited in the body of the article should appear in the reference, and all sources appearing in the reference should be cited in the body of the article.
- Referenced libraries should be 75% primary sources and derived from research, ideas, theory/concepts that have been published in scientific journals, both printed and electronic. The reference is the result of the publication of the last 10 years, with the exception of the classic reference used as a material of literary studies.
- Citation is done using bracket (last name and year of publication). When the sources are cited verbatim, page number is included (p. 78 or pp. 78-89).
- Before going to review process, all manuscripts will be checked that they are free from plagiarism practice (less than 20% similarities). If there an indication of plagiarism (higher than 20% similarities), the manuscript will instantly be rejected.
- All forms of communication between the authors and the journal are via passage_linglit@upi.edu. Communication to other emails will not be considered.
Submission Preparation Checklist
As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
- Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
- If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
